Just want to share this. I've been using Ubuntu on my small iCafe in the province for several months now. I started using them when my Windows started acting up because of viruses, hardware problems, etc. Some WS won't install XP anymore. Some do but would reboot for no apparent reason. Mainly because of hardware problems, mostly defective memories. To my surprise, Ubuntu installed and ran on them without any problems.

I have few complaints from my customers but, mainly because I don't have games anymore. And some, because of unfamiliarity with some applications. Overall, however, it's doing great.

I was thinking of using CafePilot (it can be downloaded for free) as the Cafe Management SW but the customers don't like buying freepaid cards (remember, I'm in the province). So I have to go back to timing them manually.

Thanks! Try ko 'to!

So much easier kasi i-install yung CafePilot. Intimidated kasi ako ng mga text based commands. Winuser kasi ako.

Plus yung CafePilot eh tumatakbo yung either server o client sa Windows at Linux.

Some games also run on Ubuntu using Wine. So far, I was able to run Call of Duty 2 flawlessly(tamad ako mag-games). I'm sure there are other games that will run just as well.

Ayaw nila nung may pa-ticket-ticket pa.

Tamang-tama yung CafePilot! Tatakbo siya sa Windows at Linux. Kahit anong combination, Server eh Windows - Client Linux and vice-versa.

how will you address the no ticket system?

Problema nga yung ticket system, Pag biglang naubos yung load mag rereklamo yung customer.

Meron gumagana.. DOTA...:) Using lime wire my only problem with warcraft malalaro mo yung multiplayer kaso pagdating sa single player mission.. naghahang na yung game hanggang loading lang hehehe pasasabikin ka lang... (More on mission gaming ako)

Have a look at Urban Terror for a fun 1st person shooter that can be played over the internet or LAN, this works natively on Linux and is similar to CounterStrike 1.6
