Can you please let me know if there are any cards out there that are guaranteed to work that are currently available to purchase in Australia.

I have tried 2 already with no success namely the Winfast DTV100S (I know the DTV100T works but is not low profile) and the DVICO Fusion HDTV DVB-T Pro (I thought I'd bought the PLUS version).

Was hoping to have it all working by Easter so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Hey check out this site

OCAU MythTv wiki (http://www.overclockers.com.au/wiki/MythTV#Supported_TV_tuner_adapters) and definitely join the forums at Overclockers (www.overclockers.com.au). They have a good forum dedicated the Mythtv.

By they way, what state are you in? I can try and help you find a place that sells low profile supported cards but I need to know where you are.

Cheers

I have referenced the OCAU Wiki extensively but haven't yet tried the forums. Thanks for the advice. I live in Adelaide SA and would appreciate any leads you may have with stores that might be able to help. Thanks

Hey. Unfortunately Adelaide doesn't have a huge range of shop fronts where you can walk in and buy these cards. I am in Adelaide also and I got mine from an online retailer in the Eastern States.

Sorry about that. The only thing I can suggest is that you give MSY a call and see if the Dvico Dual 4 is in. Its a dual tuner that does work but it is a real pain to set up and keep working. That looks like your best bet. Unfortunately Easter starts tomorrow so your time is really short.

There are not a lot of low profile cards available unfortunately.

Anyway, good luck.

Edit: You could try a usb tuner but I am not sure how MythTV handles those.

Thanks again for your response. I purchased the existing DVICO Fusion HDTV DVB-T Pro from MSY and I think from some of the reading I've done to date the Dual 4 may have the same issues as the Pro.

Do you have a low profile card yourself that works? I'm thinking I would be better to be patient and order one from interstate if needs be to make sure the next card I buy will actually work.

Yeah I have the Dvico DVB-T Plus. It's an excellent card!

Thats the one I thought I was getting when I got the Pro (which MSY took back with a 15% restocking fee). I'm happy to say though that I now have a Dvico DVB-T Lite (which has been re badged as Dvico DVB-T Home). It works a treat and I had it running for Easter! I got it from good old A & R Computers around the corner.

Thanks again for your help - I hope this can help someone else.

Steve

Dvico Dual Digital 4 is not a pain to setup or keep going.... Its a great card, ive used it in almost 10 different machines now, and all running fine.

careful with the Dvico Dual Digital 4 they have released a new version of the card in the same packaging. It has a different tuner.

The new version does NOT currently work in Linux, but it is currently being worked on.

Trust me this is from experience I went and brought one just to find out that it came out that week and I was unlucky enough to buy it!!!

Any idea what onboard markings can be used to identify it as the newer version?

I just did a Google and found this webpage for you.

See on the back of the card its got 2.0 written on it. Also its got different tuners onboard
