A friend of mine gave me an old computer yesterdat (circa pre year 2000) and in it it had a Creative Audigy Sound Blaster Model Number 0090. Does anyone have one or knows someone who has one? If so can you tell me if it's any good. I've read good ratings online.

Here's a picture: http://www.dearhoney.idv.tw/Museum/Creative_SBAudigy(SB0090).jpg

Thanks.

Audigys aren't too shabby at all. It's a step behind their newest (the X-Fi), but it should serve you quite well for now (at least a damn sight better than onboard audio.

IMO, if you have an ordinary 2.1 speaker system, Audigy and Audigy 2 series are fine cards for the purpose.

The main advantage of the Audigy cards, as far as I know, is that they reduce the workload of the CPU since they have their own to process the sound signals. Not so with the Live series, though.
