I have a ppc G4/Cube running os x Tiger. I tried to install kbuntu onto an external firewire drive. The installation went well up to the point when the installer tried to install the boot manager (yopload?). It could not write to /dev/sda3 (this was the only selectable partition the installer offered).

When the installation completed and the Cube was rebooted it went striaght back into os x. The two partitions on the firewire drive could not be mounted under os x.

I tried a reboot while holding down the Option key but the Cube's boot selector did not see the firewire drive, only the main ATA drive.

Has anyone out there tried this sort of dual boot installation?

Cheers,

Robert
