Guest Additions VirtualBox for Linux

Can anyone help me to configure the Guest Additions in VirtualBox. I've installed a VB for Windows XP, but i can't firgure how to setup the guest additions or access the shared folders.

I'd appreciate any help I can get. I'm fairly new to Ubuntu but would like to phase completely away from Windows.:)
