The Dungeons and Dragons license has graced some truly fine videogames. Planescape: Torment and the Baldur's Gate sagas are some of the finest gaming experiences RPG fans can cite. Dragonshard is the first melding of Dungeons and Dragons with the Real-Time Strategy genre, combining traditional RTS action with RPG elements to create a unique whole. While the game doesn't redefine my understanding of the RTS genere, it's very different from your normal title and is well worth checking out. Read on for my impressions of Liquid Entertainment's Dragonshard.
You had best believe that ole KB here is going to find a way to get this Fscker to run in Linux. I ordered my copy MONTHS ago. Just watch the forums for my updates on how I deal with this...and Someone give me a Hail Mary please.

Hell yeah. :)
Though D&D isn't very popular in Europe (I live in the Netherlands), I have that game high on my wishlist.
among a few other 'Windows-only' games :( I can only hope that Linux will one day also be supported by the larger software companies, though many of the really interesting games are made by the smaller ones :)
I hope that the trend currently visible in the console market of "exclusive for XX" will also appear on the pc market... exclusive for windows (and a few months later a Mac and a Linux version) :)

you are lucky then... This week I have to work on a pc with no internet connection whatsoever... though it does have a very slow connection to the corporate file-network, not that there is much to find there :)
sorry, taking this OT thing a bit further :) (if any of the mods don't like it, they are free to remove it)

I have been playing around with Wine and trying to install straight from the cds. On Intrepid with Wine 1.1.7, this is my progress.
Autoplay.exe - splash screen comes up, shows the option to install, but dies soon after clicking it (big surprise, heh....).
Dragonshard.exe - splash comes up, cpu and disk use flair, they come back down, the splash goes away, nothing has changed.
Setup.exe - Ahh! Here's the money! Splash comes up, screen resolution goes crazy, screen goes black, Liquid logo comes up, the whole thing locks up and I'm forced to hard reset, haha!
Any progress on your side of the state, KB? (I'm in Hinesville, heh)
