I've booted up in my newly installed 'test' 386 kernel, and I was going to start running some updates. I'm on dialup so the thought of watching it all download really slowly was irritating me, so I mounted the /var partition I am using for another 386 kernel install and simply copied all the *.debs from /var/cache/apt/archives directly into my archives folder on my new kernels /var partition. Am I asking for trouble? Or is this going to work? So far things have been installing nicely. :D

No, that's perfectly safe :)

Thanks. It's all been working well, but it's nice to have it confirmed.
