Vote for the Desktop Environment/Window Manager that has, in your opinion, the best balance between look, ease of use, and speed(lightweight). This is mostly focused on the lightweight ones, thats why there are no Gnome or KDE options.
I'm interested in what others think, by starting this poll I hopefully won't have to try them all myself. I just listed the ones I could think of quickly, I may have missed some.
My prefs:
XFCE is my favorite
E17 looks really good, but I haven't tried it yet!
IceWM isn't too bad
I don't like Fluxbox!

It's old, but I think Window Maker is the best overall balance of performance and looks.

I prefer Gnome, but XFCE is a great mix of speed and beauty.

Xfce = Superb. GUI tools which do their job, but stay out of the way.
*box = Very fast, but not as nice looking and all config is done by text files (not necessarily a bad thing).
Enlightenment (any version) = I hated this thing. Ugly, buggy, and remarkably difficult to use.
IceWM = Decent but unremarkable.

E17 by far. It has the best looks in eyecandy. Its faster than XFCE, while fluxbox is a bit lighter. And E17 is very functional. Despite some bugs and lack of some modules being able to be themed, its the best DE/WM available. Check Maryan Linux for the first beta coming out amazingly soon - maryanlinux.wordpress.com

Moved to Recurring Discussions, since this is one of those topics that, umm, recurs a lot.

Yeah I think it does recur a lot. I think I'm dizzy from saying so many times I prefer e17 than any other DE/WM. :D :) :?

E17 and Window maker for me, though I would pick out XFCE too

I love Fluxbox. But my wife isn't very comfortable using it. I find XFCE may offer a better "balance" between lightness and features, so that is what I voted.

I have to agree with you. E17 rocks (if only it were more stable at times :(). KDE4 looks promising though as a great balance (saw it at a LUG meeting last night).

I voted Openbox but then I realized the 'easy of use' portion. I take my vote back. Openbox looks great and is very, very fast, but on the configuration side there isn't much GUI tools. Mostly just text files. I love Openbox.

I wish I could get used to Window Maker because it does interest me, but I just can't seem to get used to the way it works.
But I do like FVWM crystal a lot although this can be difficult to configure and customize.
