are there any significant performance differences between running Windows XP Pro SP2 on vmware workstation vs vmware server? i have noticed that my XP vm runs a little slower than normal, even with over 1GB of RAM allocated to it, and a 40GB hd, running on Ubuntu 7.10. i have read a number of reviews and posts that suggest windows xp runs quite well under Linux as a vm, but i haven't found that to be the case so far. any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Have you followed all the suggestions to get the more out of a WinXP vm?

The best I've experienced is to use only one core, if you have two or more.

There are many others but that one core shows the most improvements. Also read the Sticky Tips note at the top of this forum for more advice.
