We've used Linux exclusively for years now here at home.
Within the last year I have set up an old jurrassic ware laptop for my grandmother with xubuntu (dial up) given her tech support when her isp phone number changed and when she needed a printer installed, both situations 10-15min each.
Remotely set up my dads computer over broadband and had a great time with him while doing it.
Bought my mom a 1420n with the nvidia card and 2g of ram (she'll have it on the 10th and I'll remote in and get it all tweaked out sweet)
No regrets, no turning back.
I can help my family with a safer more secure OS, tech support is a breeze compared to doing the same support for them on windows, and they are happy not to have computers bogged down with all the malware.

Thanks loads Canonical, you guys are the greatest.

I like you you do it remotely, saves on all the questions like
Why're you doing that?
What does that do?
How did you do that so fast?

Well done on getting the whole family on it though :D

great story.

the number of microsoft users in the world should be falling steadily.

I too am new to Linux (about a month). Besides wireless connectivity problems and learning the new system - everything is running far better the Xp.
