Has anybody tried it out? I'm thinking about it but I'm a little skeptical about. WHich version is best Gnome KDE or Fluxbox?

I am thinking about trying it to see if it is a little less bloated than ubuntu.

i'm not very impressed with this distro, they did not even change the boot splash of xubuntu which was labled flux edition... then i had to switch to fluxbox session after i installed it, and it was a bit slow, i dont suggest it
the only edition of this distro i do suggest is kde, it was a bit nice and different

I have been an active Neowin member (and Linux user) for quite a while. The Shift Team there is just starting and using their distro primarily as a learning experience for the creators, plus the end product will be something Neowin-centric, with the packages they want defaulted on install and such. They just switched from a rather unwieldy Morphix base to a *buntu one, so at this time it won't be much different from a stock *buntu install with different packages installed. They do have plans for original content that other Neowin members want, plus some original artwork.
Right now I don't see anything there to woo an existing *buntu user over to Shift. But the new solid Ubuntu foundation and the planned catering to Neowin member's needs will make this attractive to Neowin members (including their population of Windows users that are curious about Linux).

I've tried the old (morphix) version of Shift and wasn't too impressed. The new version just looks like a remastered Gutsy.
Edit:
LOL I misspelled Shift and it was censored with asterisks :D

Thanks that is real informative. I would also like to thank the others to posted. I appreciate all of your help. It seems to me that I might need to wait before i try it out.
