Just an idea and I don't know if it could be programmed into the forum program, but to have a birthday section on the forums that would announce (births - names of people who signed up that day), and then yearly birthdays afterthat -- (membership of 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 years beyond that). Obviously a member would have to be active to be named, so possibly if a post had not been made in 6 months or something, the member could be classified as inactive.
Just a thought.

Something like this?
http://ubuntuforums.org/calendar
We have so many people now, the servers couldn't handle the load...at least I think I remember that is why it is not functioning after Dec 2006.

Yes I guess it would be something like that. It would seem to me all it would be would be a simple database query that could be set up automatically. It shouldn't seem that hard in theory -- seems like in practice it might get overwhelming
How many registered forum members?

Little over half a million registered users. Hmm thought there would be more. A lot of people otherwise.

The stats are on the main page. There are about 800 new members a week.
There was a big celebration when the .5 million mark was reached, it is in the Cafe somewhere.
(It is a lot)

I wonder how many of those members have 50 posts or less --- meaning they ask a question, it gets answered -- maybe they ask another question and then they disappear forever!
