HI

I have seen screen shots of GIMP and there are images showing each of the layers allowing you to stack them in different orders etc. I don't seem to have this feature enabled on my GIMP program. Does anyone know how I can does this?

An example would be this linked image.

You may need to elaborate a little more. What do you mean the feature is not available?

What happens when you open the layers palette and drag the layers around into the desired order?

FYI: To open the layers palette, click the tiny, left-facing arrow at the top of the tool options tab (below the toolbox), choose "add tab" and choose "layers".

Hi!
You mean the layer's window? To get it go to File/Dialogs/Layers or press Ctrl+L.
Cheers!

EDIT:
Now that I think about it, I think the window is actually "Layers, Channels, Paths". You can enable it on File/Dialogs/Create New Dock/Layers, Cannels & Paths

Hey Duck,

You should check out some of the tutorials on http://www.pixel2life.com as well. You'll learn some pretty neat techniques and it's the best way to get started.
