How do I use Compiz?

Ok i downloaded the manager, have the screen that i can check ummmm, "Rotating Cube" for example. But how do I like, USE the effects. Is there somewhere i'm not seeing that you have to like, apply them or enable them. When i check the boxes, my screen just seems the same.

To rotate the cube Ctrl+Alt+Click and drag on the desktop.
or
Ctrl+Alt+right or left arrow keys.
or
if you have a scroll wheel on your mouse just roll it on the desktop.

also for special effects see the animations box, you can set from there the burning windows on close and other cool effects :)

Ok, but it seems as if i only have 2 sides to my cube HAHA.

How do I get 4?
Is there a way to make it look smoother and not so choppy? Maybe it's cuz my resolution isn't working for me very well...changing it that is.
When i go to enable "Burn" for example, it gives me a couple of options and idk what they mean?

try : System>Preferences>Advanced Desktop Effects Settings>General Options>Desktop Size>Horizontal Virtual Size (4)
