I have been playing nexuiz and open arena, and alien arena for quite some time now and as fun as they can be i have grown kind of bored with them. Are there any new 3-d games for linux worth playing?

Regnum Online (MMORPG) (free)

Savage 1 (combination fps/rts) (free)

Enemy territory quake wars (fps) (paid)

(soon) unreal tournament 3 (fps) (paid)

(soon) savage 2 (fps) (paid)

Not 3d, but looking nice and a hell of a lot of fun which you can play hours and hours without getting bored: Battle for wesnoth (turn-based fantasy strategy game, absolutely huge amount of campaigns/scenarios avaliable, multplayer as well) (free) (in repos's)

The're lots more, just go to google, but this should be enough to get you started :)

Also, nexuiz 2.4 has been released, which sports a new munu system, and hugley improved graphics, among other things.

Have fun!

Wow those games look cool, but I'm actually looking for some new shooters, I should have been more specific.

Give World of Padman a try - http://padworld.myexp.de/index.php?startlang=en.

It's free and a lot of fun. You can see some screenshots here - http://padworld.myexp.de/index.php?media

World of Padman is very popular it seems. There is a thread dedicated to it here somewhere.

Edit: DOH! Too slow.

(Great minds and all that though ;))

Will it be ported ?

No, there will be an installer released at some point, like UT2004. No word on when, as Epic is having trouble getting the 360 version out the door, and gave themselves a very tight deadline on Gears of War 2.

America's Army is freeware. You could try that, its pretty :-).

Also, Urban Terror 4 is free and open source, and has tons of players. Its a LOT of fun and I've been playing it occasionally in my offtime for about 2 years now. It's pretty if you have a nice graphics card and is reminiscent of counterstrike

Urban Terror is closed-source i believe, but i'm not sure. It's fun to play though.

And unreal tournament 3 is already finished, they can't release it yet because of some legal problem :(

You're correct.
http://www.urbanterror.net/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.5
Urban Terror can be freely distributed over the internet, unmodified, without charging for the product. Urban Terror uses the Quake 3 SDK license. This means the game code (the .qvm's in zpak000.pk3) are closed source and can only be distributed electronically over the internet, not on cd/dvd. The non-code data files of Urban Terror (zpak000-assets.pk3) can go on any medium however. The full license texts come with the installer, they outweigh the information provided here.
The only thing that's open source is the executable used in place of Quake 3's retail executable. For the executable, a modified ioquake3 is used.

Yeah... Battle for wensoth (turn-bases strategy) and regnum online (MMORPG) are two good ones. But I believe it ends right there, if you don't want to pay. Although the're 3 more MMORPG's i know about, namely, planeshift, eternal lands, and the mana world. Regnum online is 10000 times better than all of them combined though, which is no surprise given it's a commercial product. And the planeshift installer thought it was fun to turn my entire dekstop and all folders in it overto root ownership and denied permissions for me to change or write anyting in it. Had to learn a new command, chmodm to clean op the mess...

Otherwise, the're are millions of good games available at tuxgames.com :)
