turn mic up?

how can i turn my mic up? i was recording something in gtk-record my desktop and it came out really quiet.

Are you using Ubuntu?
Which mixer/volume control are you using?
Is it on the panel?

dunno. ive just got the main volume control on the bar at the top. i dont use anything else.

Try a click or right click on the volume control, it'll open up a window, look for mic as an option in preferences, make sure it's enabled(checked), then move the slider up.

thanks it worked. however my mic is rubbish anyway, so i have to hold it up to m mouth. thanks though :D it works.

There is usually some sort of Mic Boost function on most soundcards that can be accessed via the mixer.... I am a kubuntu user so I can't give you specific instructions on how to access this functionality.
