I wanted something to match Clearlooks so I made this:

I noticed theres a copyright by Canonical for the original.

My gues would be that it is GPL'd, so just go ahed and distribute it... that is, if you intend to put it on like gnomel-look.org.
YOu'll see lots of stuff there that has the ubuntu logo anyway...

Maybe the copyright applies to the logo. In that case Ill put it up. Theres tons of stuff with the logo around.
Ide love to upload this but I cant get the filesize down enough. My background image is the same size 1600x1200 @72dpi (9 compression setting on the PNG) but its twice the size as the brown one.

JPEG is better for compressing gradients, It's not free like PNG but you should see a big reduction in file size.

As long as you follow the Logo Standards listed below, you do not need to contact us if:
* You want to use the logo in a desktop background. Go right ahead! You can even share your work by listing it on our artwork page.

I was thinking of doing this. I will if I can keep it looking good. ;)
