record during playback?

I was watching live tv and thought I would like to record hat I was watchin. So I pressed the record button to record it. After a short period of time, my screen froze and was unable to continue watching.

I was watching using my firewire connection. I also have a pvr500. When I checked the tuner status, it showed the firewire tuner as recording. And I am unable to get back into viewing it as it records. I can use the pvr500 tuners still.

My question is, Should I still be able to continue watching if I decide to record what Im currently watching? Or, does that mean I will be forced off that tuner, until it is done recording?

You should be able to continue watching. This is how it works for me with my tuners. Really, it already is recording what you're watching anyway... If you leave teh tuner then you aren't able to go back to it until it is done recording, except through your "Watch Recordings" screen. But I believe this behavior changed in .21

Did it record the program in its entirety? Could you go view it in your "Watch Recordings" screen?

yes it did record it. but i was uable to go use the tuner until it finished the recording. i nevertried to view the recording, while it was still recording in the watch recordings menu. I never thought of that.

I wonder if this is related to my other problem that I posted about the errors in my log?
