I'm really supprised that I haven't been able to find an answer to this, but I have googled and looked through the forum. Anyway, I have an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ processor. Does the Kernel type (ie. 386, 686, k7, k8, etc.) make a difference in processing speed? For instance, if I'm using the 386 kernel (that's the one that most people automatically install from the CD, I think), and I'm watching TV or playing a game or something on my computer and stuff looks a little choppy, will it help to upgrade to the 686, or one of the AMD kernels?

Ok, sorry I only read the first couple stickies. I'll go post this in a more appropriate forum.
