The new Ubuntu

Does anyone know when the new Ubuntu version is coming out and what the system requirements might be. I'm asking because I'm unsure if I want to upgrade or not. My current machine only has 1 gig or ram. I'm uncertain of my video display ram but I think that it's about 8 megs of ram. Would this be enough to run the new version? What is the official name of the new version. The version that I'm using now is 6.10

Ubuntu gets released every 6 months but then a long term support release every few years the next lts release 8.04 will be released in march 2008 hence 04=march 8=2008 and it's called hardy heron

I believe April is the fourth month and therefore I think 04=April
