It can be done - and when it works, my goodness, it works well!

My laptop's specs are in my sig (as always). I know compiz vids are obviously not a new phenomenon, but I couldn't help feeling pleased with my current setup. Enjoy!

P.S - the pauses between the different effects are due to me trying to maneuver my hands around the camera's lens to press the shortcut keys.

P.P.S - I recorded using a camera because directly recording the screen gives compiz a bad impression - people think it does not run well.

P.P.P.S - For anyone who likes the music, it's by Oceansize, one of the best British bands around today (in my opinion), and the track's "The Frame" by their incredible latest album.

Makes me regret turning Compiz off :p

Just a small note - the effects at the end are the unofficial "Snow" and "Stars" plugins.

The laptop cost me only £399 (that's about $200).

Isnt it more like 785USD?

Nice video though :)

Nice video. It's always nice for a user like myself to see videos such as this, as I don't really tend to use Compiz. (I'm quite anti-eyecandy, even though I can run it)

And yes, finally another Oceansize fan! :)

Inspiron 1501 - AMD Turion 64 TL50 (Dual Core), 1GB RAM, 120 GB HDD, ATI 1150.

The computer isn't even that weak. My PC is

Toshiba Satellite, Celeron M 1,4GHz, 512MB RAM, ATI Express 200m
and compiz is SMOKING! I just enabled the restricted drivers and WHOA!

PS.: But i don't run Compiz! ;) Not with Fluxbox.

I installed CF on my 6 year old laptop before I gave it away.

Specs: P4, 256 MB RAM + 32 MB ATI Mobility Raedon.

Worked fine.
