Please bear with me as I am not as stupid as this sounds. I have a G4 iBook 1Ghz that shipped with install DVDs. I no longer have the DVDs. Stupid divorce. My new roommate just fragged my iBook and I want to put Ubuntu on it. However, it will not boot from CDs, only DVDs. Is there a way to make a DVD with all of the Ubuntu PPC files on it? I know there are DVDs for purchase from Amazon, but it looked like they were for PCs only. Please let me know, and I apologize if this seems to be a bit of a juvenile question.
Thanks,
Ryan

you can burn the cd iso image to a dvd. (one has to during testing sometimes if the image goes over 800MB).

As far as I know, your iBook should be able to boot from a properly burned CD.
CD booting certainly works on the 3 Macs I've installed Ubuntu on.
I suggest downloading and trying the Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) ppc live CD or alternate install CD image as it seems the most compatible with G4 iBooks and aluminum PowerBooks:

Make sure you burn the disk image to the CD, not a file of the image.
Insert the CD and reboot, holding down the "C" key until it starts to boot from the CD.

guidop is right on the money.
Additional help for burning your own iso can be found here:

I prefer to burn at half-speed or slower to give me some headroom as the equipment ages, or if I plan to install onto a slower/older drive.

I will give this a shot. I would hate to lose this comp. Thanks in advance.

I just wanted to thank everyone for all of their help. I was able to get my iBook up and running thanks to you guys. There are some minor annoyances to work out, but on the whole, I am fully functional. Thanks to all who posted and helped!
