View Full Version : Recommendation of a Torrent client for XP

Hey all,
I'm looking for a good torrent client for my sister on XP. She's not really a techie, and will only be downloading straight from one site, so I'd prefer something like the standard Ubuntu bittorrent client - straightforward, with no bells and whistles - just open and download. My only other requirement is that the download site is free of sketchy ads. (I know a lot of torrent sites are quite questionable, and I don't really want to send her to one of those).
Thanks,
Jeff

utorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/) is a nice lightweight client for Windows. As for torrent tracker sites, that really depends on what she wants to download. A search on isohunt (http://isohunt.com/) yields lots of results for most things.

utorrent is the best... It has a built in hash checker... Also a good place for torrent files is mininova.org and thepiratebay.org
I don't use isohunt because you can't check for comments on how good the file is... So stick with MN and TPB

I asked this question (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=573920&highlight=bittorrent) recently and the answers were in favour of utorrent, I've been using it since - it's fast, simple to use and doesn't slow my system up. +1 for utorrent :)
If you're avoiding any dodgy ads, then as one person pointed out you could settle for the official bittorent client (http://www.bittorrent.com/), but I didn't see any on the utorrent site either.

but it's cross-platform, simple and uses 100% of internet bandwidth ...
BitLord is great for leeching but contains spyware

Guys, the OP wants a torrent client that is lightweight or simple a torrent that does its work without the "bells and whistles"
So Azureuz is out of the question.
