Hi. I recently got a cable modem and I wanted to use with with my laptop. It has the most current Ubuntu 7.

This is not wireless: I wanted to connect it through ethernet. Unfortunately, it is not just plug and play. I don't know how to set it up so I can use the internet with my laptop.

My service is Insight (bought out by Comcast), and niether ISP can help me.

They said it is through DHCP, but I don't know how to configure it.

The box next to my eth0 is checked, set to DHCP in Preferences, but it doesn't connect. My wireless card is enabled and works in roaming mode. I believe I have all of my drivers installed; my ethernet card is Reltek Gigabit.

The internet works with my Windows computer fine.

Can someone please help?!

Thank you very much!
