Me again! Looking for my default RPG, I've gone through quite a bit and found a couple of NetHack versions that look promising.
Problem is, I can't decide between and need your help! Don't hesitate to post if you have better ideas too; This one was hard to even narrow down, let alone choose!

Eschalon : Book 1 (http://basiliskgames.com/book1.htm) is pretty cool. Takes me back to the old Dragonlance games and the original Pools of Radiance. They have a free demo to try it out. Of course, Neverwinter Nights is pretty awesome to, and runs perfectly on Linux.

Another one for Eschalon: Book I

Eschalon looks pretty cool, too bad I'd end up having to pay, I'm mostly after freebies. I have Neverwinter Nights (for Windows), but I'm not sure how to use it with Linux; I don't want to bother with emulators or configuration, I'm more into something I can automatically install with a few clicks and jump right into.

Neverwinter Nights has a native Linux client?

Well, if you're looking for a roguelike rather than a straight-up RPG, may I suggest Lost Labyrinth?

Runs great, and there's a .deb provided so there's no need to compile, although I had a little hiccup with my install- somehow the folder got assigned as "root" so for a while I couldn't save. A quick chmod/gksudo nautilus fixed the problem.
It does crash on exit with a seg fault though, but that pretty much accomplishes the point of exit anyway, so... *shrug*

Just looked at some more games. A lot of what I saw comes close (like Lost Labyrinth), but for a free, native RPG, I'm aiming towards a NetHack variant. I just noticed Vulture's Eye/Claw seems to be an upgrade from Falcon's Eye/Claw. Does anyone here have experience with these two games?
Heck, I may even pop in Nazghul again (played that one while on Windows)!

Just downloaded and installed the two games in the OP, plus Egoboo and KQ. The later two I'm having issues with already, but you'll have to go to my Gaming Help thread for more on that.

nethack variant...? try linley's dungeon crawl ("crawl" in the repos) Someone's even made a graphical frontend for it: http://rltiles.sourceforge.net/
Powder's pretty good too, much closer to a true nethack variant than lost labyrinth, though the graphics feel a bit like you're playing on a gameboy (I like that, but not everyone does)

If you like Egoboo, I'm inclined to suggest SoulFu.

Ended up going with Gnome NetHack of all things. Nothing else seems to have what I'm looking for.
I have NWN, and TES (Morrowind and Oblivion), but I'm not going the WINE route, so they don't count.

I'm actually a sucker for rogue-likes such as Falcon's Eye, but if I had to pick a favourite RPG with a native Linux client, I'd definitely pick Neverwinter Nights. There are hundreds of player-made story nodules, and the "Infinite Dungeons" premium module is very much rogue-like (random dungeons). I think I paid $5 for it, and I got lots of entertainment out of it.

I have NWN Diamond Edition, but I don't think that does me any good:(

Yes, the Diamond edition is fine! See these instructions (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=113259) on how to install it in Ubuntu (with the native client).
