Hi all,
I got a msg from some friends today saying that I was sending links with free ipods and such over msn. I haven't used msn on a Windows machine in a really long time. I'm always using pidgin to connect. And my msn wasn't even on...
Anyone here have any inputs on how this could have happened??

Hi,
Messenger sends spam over ports 137,139, are these open by any chance?

Nope... I have a very strict firewall at home.
They also never changed my password, which I would think they would if they had gained access to my account?
Is there any was this can be broadcasted to my contacts from one of the access servers?

Tell them to monitor the IP next time it happens.

could be two thing that I can think of
1. Your friends has gotten a virus from you that mimics a send from you but takes something from a server or site and make it look like you sent it
2. A ghost that has you account details and sends stuff to others without it actually comming from your comp, just a slave program running somewhere much like the bots that want to add you on msn and send "nude pics", btw that isn't real girls ;)

It were actually two people that got the msg at the same time. They emailed me in the morning to let me know.
I've changed my password. I hope that it stops the problem... :-s
