Has anyone tried to run Dreamweaver 8 or Flash 8 under some windows emulator like WINE in Ubuntu? I need to get some kind of windows emulator to run at minimum Flash, I can transition from Dreamweaver to Nvu or just ditch it and use gedit. But Flash on the other hand is unavoidable. I have read that Flash MX can run under something like Crossover or WINE but that's old. I need at least MX 2004 if not Flash 8. Anyone try these out? Anyone have suggestions as to which windows emulator is best?

Crossover and Wine are the same thing. The only difference is that they charge a couple bucks for Crossover and it's easier to set up. If you need the latest-and-greatest stuff to run then you might want to look into an operating system emulator like Qemu and VMWare.
I'm personally a VMWare fanboy, but it isn't cheap.

You may also want to consider an open-source flash mx alternative. There is a list (http://osflash.org/doku.php?id=open_source_flash_projects&DokuWiki=39409467000d6863747453a55a3a59ef)of open source projects at http://osflash.org/ . Out of those, Flash4Linux (http://f4l.sourceforge.net/) and Open Laszlo (http://www.openlaszlo.org/) caught my eye.

It can take a little work to get it going. Start here (http://http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=65638&) with the instructions for Breezy and let me know if have trouble. The steps for Hoary are very similar, but you don't have to worry about the GCC stuff.
