Greeting to fellow Ubuntu users. i have just installed both 5.04 and 5.10 versions so im not sure witch part of the forum should i post in. both of them installed without a glitch. i have heard that you can install and play windows games using ubuntu. i have installed wine using the synaptic package manager. now how do i use wine? they said you have to install winetools also for easy configuration of wine. but when i use synaptic to install winetools its says has a 404 error and i cannot install it. is there a way to use wine without winetools? i have seached for different winetools and found some versions (2.1.1 is what the synaptic is trying to install, found a 2.1.2 version). how to i install this new version? thanks in advance for the help.

For games, the best way is to use Cedega (formerly WineX), which is a modified version of Wine to include basic DirectX support.
Cedega is paid for software though.

You should try the wine cvs beta. It's free and it supports directx, cedega's main advantage over wine.
You can use this guide :http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=29996&highlight=wine+cvs
I know it may seem like a lot of work but you can just copy the command line stuff and paste it into terminal.

the windows drive is located (or should be) in ~/.wine/
edit: post what games you get working, I currently use cedega, but if winecvs will play the games I play with cedega then I might make the switch.

how can i access that folder using the file browser or the commands/syntax for copying from one folder to another in the terminal.
i have installed warcraft3 and half-life:counterstrike(the old one). i have read that games like red alert, yuris revenge and quake would also run under wine. would try to install them soon.
