exit from full screen at guest shutdown (no acpi)

How do I exit full screen in qemu when the guest has been shutdown?

my guest winxp (with -no-acpi) says, " it is now safe to turn off your computer", and I can ctrl-alt to get my mouse back, but alt+F4 doesn't work, nor does alt-tab
