One thing I really like about the forum that I haven't seen in a lot of forums is the feature that scans the entire forum for similar posts to the one an individual is about to post. I think that is an extremely helpful tool.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there is a way to further filter thread searching, namely, I would like to see threads divided by their Distro relevance. e.g, Feisty, Gutsy, etc.

I believe this would be very valuable as we do not necessarily need to read historical threads to solve our issues, as sometimes the information is completely obsolete.

Just a thought.

The information on fixes in "feisty" isn't always obsolete for "Gutsy"!

This isn't a windows 95 to windows xp jump, with the 6 month cycle ubuntu releases are much more gradual changes. Some information can become obsolete, but not always. The last 3 releases are also still supported!!!

When posting a new thread, you do have the special search which looks for similar threads anyway.

shouln't the forum authentication be upgraded from md5 hash to a more secure public/private key mechanism ?
