Click me (http://gaming.gwos.org/doku.php/games:start). True Combat Elite (http://gaming.gwos.org/doku.php/games:alphabetical:t:true_combat_elite#true_combat _elite) is very good and counter-strikeish.

You should definantly try out:
http://www.urbanterror.net/
http://assault.cubers.net/

They're both free as in beer, and free as in freedom, and are similar to CS.

If you like faster game play, try out:
http://www.sauerbraten.org/
http://www.worldofpadman.com/

All are free and open source, all will work in 32 and 64bit Ubuntu (sauerbraten and assault cube need to be compiled for 64bit support - which isn't too hard to do).

As for need for speed, there's a bunch of racing games, but I don't play any, so I don't know.

Haven't heard of the total overdose game though

Everyone if forgetting Warsow. It's a fantastic game with a fairly large player base. You'll need to like extremely fast paced games as the entire game is movement based.

Yes, it does run, I used to play it... stopped because I was doing really, really horribly. I guess it treally is for the 'elite' :(

Oh, and you can get it off the liflg.org site - http://liflg-tracker.death-row.org/torrents/true.combat.elite_0.49b-english-4.run.torrent

Yes it does, first install Wolf ET (http://www.truecombatelite.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,40/func,select/id,42/), then the Wolf ET update (http://www.truecombatelite.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,40/func,select/id,46/), then the TC:E mod (http://www.truecombatelite.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,40/func,select/id,35/) and finally the TC:E update (http://www.truecombatelite.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,40/func,select/id,49/).

+1 here for Typhoon 2001. It is absolutely fantastic. Retro yet modern, fun, frantic and really well judged. It's my absolute fave Linux game, and it's completely free.

If you do download it, you may need to give the Typhoon binary permission to execute as a program. Otherwise you'll be double-clicking and getting nowhere. To do this, right click on the typhoon launcher (you'll most likely see it as a diamond shape once you extract the zipped file), select Permissions, and tick the box that says "allow executing as a program". Then you're away.

Download it now! :)

There is America's Army and Wolfenstein ET for linux too.

Also, Nexuiz is CS'ish.

TORCS is quite NFS-ish.

You kidding? Comparing TORCs to NFS is like comparing pong to super mario tennis.

I found mouse control to be quite bad in TORCS and played for maybe a total of 45 minutes before giving up in frustration and ANGER!

Yeah you're right Nexuiz is quite cartoonish in the way that Unreal Tournament is cartoonish. Now that I think about it its more like a lower-budget version of UT than it is like CS.

I love racing car games, so I use to play TORCS and Trigger.
They are available in Synaptic, so it's easy to install.
Try them

I do think that Urban Terror would have to be one of the best games made for gnu/linux(I liked it when I played the Windows version, there is also a Linux version fyi).

just a question...im at work at the moment and i downloaded W:ET and its a .run file...i then tried to download truecombat elite linux version but there was no file to download :(

Then i downloaded the ALL OS package-the md5 file is the same as the linux version...

Then i downloaded the patch also all os version...could someone explain how will i install TC:E?
I know how to run .run file but...these are ziped and i have no idea!
( i ran linux before for a few months-RH9 :D i know some simple basic stuff-but this i have no idea-i have to try it when i get home)

Thank you all in advance!!!
