Eve-Online: Mouse stuck in window

I am playing eve-online in windowed mode. I cannot get my cursor to leave the window.

Ive tried holding down ctrl+alt and just pressing ctrl+alt and the mouse just hits the side of the window and doesn't leave it.

ctrl+tab affects something ingame

ctrl affects something else ingame

is there another key shortcut or some setting i may not have tried yet?

if you use wine then go to wine config -> graphics and uncheck 'Allow DirecX apps to stop mouse leaving their window'. the official EO cedega client has a similar option, but i dont know where ;)
