Hi yall,

I just recently had a near flawless install of wubi ubuntu, but when presented at the gui login screen, an annoying noise begins to repeat itself. after i enter my login and password and press enter, another sound joins in and both repeat until i shutdown. i can access the text screens ctr alt f1 through 6 and can login fine, access files etc, but the noise will continue until i shutdown. whenever i go back to the gui screen f7, its just a black light brown bg with my cursor.

any ideas where things could have gone wrong? i am using windows vista 32bit on a dell lattitude 620. i also have windows xp installed on a seperate partition that i created using gparted, and also am running vmware on the xp partition for linux suse enterprise 9.0

thanks for your help guys,

-phil

That does not sound as a wubi issue :P
But you can disable system sounds until you figure it out. If it is 8.04 might well be a temporary bug (still an alpha). You are better off asking in the general forum.
