I currently have a file server running Fedora 7 and its running very well and all, but I would like to use ZFS in the future. What I would like to know is your experiences with ZFS on both FreeBSD7 and Solaris. Also if I installed FreeBSD and set up a ZFS partition, could I reinstall Solaris and use the ZFS filesystem that was already created, or do FreeBSD and Solaris' implementations differ slightly? What would be the better platform to use ZFS on?
Before anyone asks, I know about ZFS on fuse for linux, and have tried it out, and it is not a feasible option for me.
