I've looked all over for a year now and I still can't find a game that "fits" me, so I'm asking for recommendations.
I'm looking for a games I can play for a quick 10-15 minutes, save and come back to again and again.

Something like Diablo/Diablo 2 (yes, I do have it under wine, but something different would be nice)... not the atmosphere, it can be all kittens and puppies for all I care, but something with similar playability. I've tried a lot of roguelikes but that's not really my thing.

Games I've liked:
Wesnoth... but it takes too long :(
Zelda, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger for SNES (yes, i likes retro...)
virtual villagers (know anything similar?)
arcade games are ok too. I still haven't found an Arkanoid i like.

You could try Settlers of Catan. www.games.asobrain.com is a great implementaion. Pioneers is a open source alternative, but I'm not sure if there are any players. Each game takes 20-40 minutes. (It's called xplorers on asobrain)

http://www.armadillorun.com/ physics-based puzzle game. Linux verision planned. Runs great in wine.

Cave story/Doukutsu: Superb old school freeware platform game. Native linux version is availabe somewhere. The windows version works in wine. Can only save at certian points though. (but it's a fair amount) http://www.miraigamer.net/cavestory/

Try Freedroid RPG:
http://freedroid.sourceforge.net/

Very Diablo-like in terms of gameplay.
