Tthe recent flaw in the Firefox browser also affects Mozilla Thunderbird. Mozilla have not addressed this issue of yet, but it needs to be done as soon as possible. More can be read about the flaw in Thunderbird here (http://informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=171100282).

I, too, hope they fix it as soon as possible, but the article says "if, for instance, a user is tricked into clicking on a "mailto:" link within a browser which uses Thunderbird as its default e-mail client (as Firefox does). Any Linux commands enclosed in backticks are executed."
It's simple--for now, don't click on any mailto links. I never do anyway, regardless of security flaws. I find mailto links annoying, and if you're worried about being "tricked" into clicking on one, don't visit any fishy websites.
