Security, Security, Security...
If you take a look at the history of OS design by each company, it's pretty clear why this is so. Microsoft has historically made an unreliable, ugly, and highly insecure operating system based on its own spaghetti/Swiss cheese code. This is no secret to anyone who has followed the industry or even used Windows on a daily basis. If you are a Windows users you MUST have spyware/virus/malware prevention software or, sooner or later, your machine is going to get nailed.
New Year, New Security Threats

It isn't Microsoft bashing to say any of this, it's just the truth for Windows users each day of their computing lives.

I'll have to agree with you this is why I switched to Linux.
Also I think a Linux box is better then a iMac now I have an old G3
that I still use for somethings.
but as far as Windows goes I don't know what to say I do still use it because I have to work wise.

Windows has been faster and more stable compared to Linux operating systems when it comes to my laptop for some reason (maybe I'm just a lucky one?). Apple overcharges dramatically. If they didn't, I would have a Macbook right now.

not exactly, it is very possible to go with no anti-* software and be fine on windows. unfortunately a typical user cant do it though.

Microsoft has terrible security compared to Linux with Linux there are not to many viruses out there but with windows they are a dime a dozen

Yeah, I have to side with Linux on this one. All the security of OS X, plus it's completely open, and free of DRM, and these proprietary formats. Yes, Apple does a better job then MS in this area, but we do have things much better IMO.

Actually, it has more, since there are a few viruses which work for OSX out, but Linux has none which work anymore.
