hello friends, do you guys know of any programs or app, that can host a server for networking like windows media player so i can open files on my ps3? when i updated my ubuntu i accidentally screwed up my grub menu.lst and windows wont boot anymore. I mainly use windows for media player because it can host a server and my playstation 3 can pick it up through lan. any suggestions?
thank you! maraming salamat! go pacquiao!!!

try using VLC. so easy to use it'll drive you crazy.

eto oh..

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 800 x 600, maximum 800 x 600
default connected 800x600+0+0 0mm x 0mm
800x600 61.0*
640x480 60.0
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ xrandr -s 1280x800

Hehehe! :D

Hi to all!. question lang. Nagset up ako ng ltsp using 8.04, naboboot ko yung mga thin clients ko, binago ko yung lts.conf ko para rdesktop agad ang ipakitang log in screen instead ng default log in screen. nakakalog in ako sa windows terminal server ko kaya lang di ko ma-map yung local(thin client) usb drives and hard drives. may paraan ba para magawa ito?

Ubuntu 8.04 ltsp server ---> thin client computers boots ---> windows server terminal client login screen is shown ---> client logs in ---> windows dektop is shown ---> no local client computer drives and usb drives mounted?

Thanks in advance.

Pagkakaalam ko nyan, you can't fix a bad sector dahil physical damage na yan to the disk.

I have been using Linux for almost three years now. It just feels like it's been more than that! I'm very familiar with the operating system and it's what I've been using for daily activities. (Well, I use windows to play windows games that wine can not execute properly)

But still, Linux is now my primary OS! :)

hi guys, don't know kung ma OT ako dito,

i need help on having this to work.

been using ubuntu on my acer 5720, tpos na sira ung lcd, may spare external LCD mon ako. but the thing is, ung nvidia graphics ko gumagana lng sa screen0 which is the laptop LCD, ng didisplay sa external LCD but on screen1 with low-graphics mode lng, no 3d accel.

gagawin ko kc desktop na tong acer ko. ubuntu 7.10 gamit ko dun, then i got 10.04 lts on another laptop.

i tried installing 10.04 on the acer by usb live cd/flash drive, pero pag dating sa magload na ung live cd desktop, garbled na ung graphics at nghang na ung display sa external LCD, pero you will hear from sound na ng boot correctly ung live cd.

salamat if you guys can suggest a workaround, pra maging un external nlang ang makilala nya monitor. nka disconnect na ung jack sa loob ng laptop, wala na power ung laptop lcd.

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my XPad notebook I got from Smart. dual-boot with Windows 7. I've been using it for a week now and I seldom boot to Win7 on it anymore. I'm enjoying the experience. :)

A Convert? not really. I still use Windows 7 on my other laptop. But for on-the-go net browsing and multimedia, and office document editing, I enjoy Ubuntu because of the pretty fast boot-up and shutdown times. And the netbook remix is really really appropriate for the smallish screen of my notebook.

Ubuntu is becoming more and more useful everyday. In fact there are distros that are Ubuntu derivative, such as Pinguy OS and Zorin OS, not to mention Linux Mint 9 and some of the other Ubuntu derivatives.
I like the easy to use interface and easy to understand debian tools such as apt-get and aptitude.
It makes linux quite easy for human beings.:)

Sun, Smart, or Globe Broadband on Ubuntu 10.04

If you are using Sun Broadband Wireless (tested on Huawei E1550) and want it to work on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx), just install the linux-backports-modules-headers-lucid-generic package and the usb-modeswitch package.view plainprint?

$ sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-headers-lucid-generic usb-modeswitch

After installing, reboot.

Plug in the Sun Broadband. Then, a notification “New Mobile Broadband Connection” should appear. Follow the wizard dialog (you can just click next since the default values should be alright). Then, you should be connected now.

Dont worry you can still used some Windows Based Program on Ubuntu 10.04 by installing Wine... Application + Ubuntu Software + Search for "Wine"

Even Play Starcraft, Warcraft, Red Alert, or used your Adobe Photo shop can run.
I've Tested since I used to run Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS (Hardy Heron)

Its Cool even used a Old PC
Ubuntu Desktop (GUI) Installation

* 1 GHz x86 processor
* 512 MiB of system memory (RAM)
* 5 GB of disk space (for OS files; consideration should be given to the (often very large) size of user files that will occupy the /home directory)
* Graphics card and monitor capable of 1024x768
* Cd/Dvd-drive
* Sound support, if you need sound.
* Internet access is helpful

And Linux can not be affected any Virus.
The Security more powerful than Windows based program.

Ubuntu Linux is Great! Just made the switch 2 days ago! I'm using a Compaq V2013 (aka HP dv1000) and it detected everything but the winmodem and firewire ports! Now I'm still dual-booting into XP as I need my Connection(56K that is)! other than that, it's better than I expected!

Sayang lang Hard disk mo sa Windows Based... Maganda pa rin ang Ubuntu. I tried already... Now Im using Ubuntu Since Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Hardy Heron...
Dito Update ka lang ng Update
Sa Windows kailangan bili ka ng bili.... Buy Hardware and Software just maintain the speed of your PC...

Sa Linux I still used My Pentium 4 still working very fast than windows xp...
