I managed to get Crux Linux (http://crux.nu) installed on my OLPC XO-1 laptop. Since Crux is rather esoteric, minimal to the point of excess and not to everyone's liking, I'll just show the picture and leave a link that talks about it.

It's an interesting operating system for a nifty piece of hardware. Crux is like Arch Linux, only leaner -- and meaner, if you can imagine that.
If you prefer minimal setups to full-blown GUIs, you might find this appealing for your XO. Be forewarned that the learning curve is immense, though. :(
