Whenever I try to watch a video, especially fullscreen, I have to turn desktop effects off because otherwise the video is too choppy. Even with it off I still get a random line that runs up the screen every few seconds but its bearable. Also, on occasion, I will sit down to my computer and turn on the monitor and I will have this wierd vertical pattern of lines running right next to each other down the screen and I will have to ctrl alt backspace to get it to go away. Anyone else have this problem? I am including a copy of my xorg.conf in hopes that maybe I have something set up wrong. thanks in advance!

A friend of me had about the same problem with you. We fixed it this way:

1) Run gstreamer-properties on a terminal
2) Click on the video tab
3) in Plugin select X Window System (No Xv)

The solution is not mine i found it on this forum here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=615539
Hope to help you too.. :)

As a side note, I still have problems with some desktop effects activated, I am running with a minimum and I am not sure which one(s) it may be so good luck to anyone with a similar problem. I still get that one line occasionally that slowly runs up the screen, I wonder if maybe it is because of my vertrefresh setting in my xorg?
