Why aren't the XP and Gnome menus stacked like in the pictures? No matter I try, they overlap.

You may have to simply move gnomes bottom menu up when using seamless mode. I deleted my bottom panel so i dont have a problem with it.

That doesn't help in the slightest since I've already tried that. Focus is not retained and it is ugly as hell. I want an aesthetically pleasing solution that satisfies the "stacked" setup from my first post.

I see all these awesome screenshots of the WinXP bar above the Gnome bar, yet my setup is limited to the two bars competing for the bottom slot. I DON'T WANT THIS! I want my seamless setup to match the pretty pictures!

Can you show links to these pictures?
Is it possible to 'stretch' the XP task bar so it is two lines deep and so give the appearance of being stacked?
I gave up on seamless as there were too many visual glitches for my liking (Photoshop CS3 freaked out!) and moved to a cube with Compiz and XP in full screen on one face. I just flick back and foward from Ubuntu to XP when required :)

With all due respect, is it that hard to do a Google Search or Google Image Search for "VirtualBox Seamless"?

Starks, if you want help here, take it upon yourself to provide the information required. Provide a screenshot of exactly what you're looking for, and it's possible that someone can help you out.

Yes I can search Google and find hundreds if not thousands of images of 'seamless desktops' but I may never stumble across the one you have seen and like so much.
As already said, if you want help be prepared to provide information when asked.

Of course you could always search these forums and find something like this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=585871) ....
The suggestion in post 2 is to subtract 25pixles from your XP vertical resolution for each bar in gnome (so 50 i guess if you are using top and bottom bars).
I think this is what you are talking about but having not seen a screen shot - I am only guessing.....

It's really annoying how you all think that this is an error on my end. It isn't and I'd appreciate if that attitude was dropped.
This is a documented bug that has been unfixed for months: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/835

No one said this is an error on your end. However, when someone asked for a more detailed description and/or screenshot of what you're attempting to accomplish, you told them to "Google it." Again, you shouldn't expect help here if you're not willing to provide details about the specific nature of the help you want.

Starks, there is no attitude here. I am a newbie to Linux and was trying to help. In my last post I even offered you what I thought was a solution - did you try it? did it work?
At no point did I suggest that there was an error your end!
I suggest we put it all behind us and move on.
Good luck getting it sorted. :)

Here's a screenshot I stumbled across while looking at VirtualBox on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VirtualBox) : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Virtualbox15seamless.png
I imagine this is what you're looking for. Sure does look nice :) I'm curious how to get a setup like this as well.

Double-, triple-boot, virtual, all possible if you start with Mac hardware, even one of their notebooks. The downside: expensive. I build my own computers.
