What i mean is can you tell if the ubuntu logo is three people or do you think it is some abstract thing till now! Maybe you think the logo is good but could use improvment? Maybe you think that the ubunt logo is awful and needs improvment what ever! You might love the ubuntu logo!

love to here you replice

Different faces, different folks, join to gather around some idea, creating a strong community, symbolized by the oval form. Only heads and hands are shown, like symbols of cogitation, work, connectivity and friendship.

Logo looking good in all sizes, on screen, paper and in plastic, its good for all print techniques.

I like a lot logo and promotive pictures of peoples. I only dislike slogan: "Linux for human beings". This doesn't mean anything, it's pointless. I think it would be better 'Humanity to others'.

The ubuntu logo is great. Like all great logos, it is simple and stylish. Doesn't need changing imho.

Indeed, it's fits if only SETI found some intelligent life form out there. But the logo does represent humanity to others.

I hadn't even thought about it representing anything in particular.
But it does look a bit like donut. ;)

(...)ubuntu logo is three people (...) the ubunt logo is awful and needs improvment(...)
Yep, they are 3 people giving hands, and yep, i guess that logo is not that awful, but (and brown colors) could really be big improved...
Maybe a community new logo design contest?... (maybe to celebrate future Ubuntu 10th edition?) Canonical, are you guys there!?... ;)
The idea of people giving hands is great, but why 3? represents the continents? (in this case continents would be America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, Antarctica) you can see here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Continental_models.gif) (Animated GIF map showing the several existing continental models in the world). In this case maybe 6 people (balls) should appear in the logo......... etc....

I like the Ubuntu logo, and I like the Kubuntu logo even better because it's blue hehe

I don't think it needs changing really. I'm quite happy with it :)

I've noticed the layout is similar to the South African flag, but horizontally reversed.

I think it's just three because it's easier that way. I mean, I don't think there's any extra symbology to it, really. I do find the logo rather bland myself, but then again i'm of the opinion that for a logo to pop, it has to contain one of the basic six colors (blue, green, red, cyan, yellow, magenta). I mean, c'mon... Apple's original logo contained all six. Windows contains all but cyan and magenta. I guess that's maybe what they're trying to get away from, but if it works it works.

There's a lot behind logos that people just don't stop to consider. I mean, here are three versions of the logo using the main colors (attached at the end).

The ubuntu logo is great, only problem with it is that it is a weird shape, and looks off center without the text imo.

The logo is fine as it is, if they change the base colour scheme for Ubuntu then yes, alter the logo colours to fit with the OS more. Even on a black or white theme the current logo looks good.

The versions someone previously posted do not add at all to the logo. Maybe if the colours were tweaked to softer tones (not saying pastels or anything, just something not so harsh), and/or had more polish (like shading, highlights, gradients, etc) - then maybe they could add something to the logo.

The logo itself is fine - I'm sure it will evolve over time like the windows logo has, but a complete overhaul is unnecessary.

I was pretty tired when I posted it. I was basically just showing what it looked like so people could get an idea. I personally think the logo is just fine as-is myself.

I think that the logo is great -- It's simple and elegant, and (I think) very easy to understand.

On a side note -- I really like the Edubuntu logo, I think that it's a really great take on the regular Ubuntu logo.

If the Ubuntu logo symbolizes a "circle of friends", what does the Canonical logo mean?

Circle of headless friends? :-k
