I have just moved to LINUX - unbuntu 7.10 in the past couple of weeks. After installing many versions and upgrading Windows for many years I wanted to send kudo's to the entire unbuntu team.
This os was the easiest and most trouble free install I have ever done. One suggestion to anyone wanting to upgrade to unbuntu.
READ THE DOCUMENTATION FIRST!. Also to become comfortable run it from the iso cd for a while to get a feel for the differences. As I read the comments from those who are not satisfied with unbuntu - I occurs to be that it may be the installer (human) not the installer (ubuntu) that is the problem.
Finally, I'm glad the entire linux community is not trying to create another "Windows". Keep up the originality, and look for unique and logical solutions to computing challenges.
It's also great to have such a dynamic community to help us through the wrinkles.
:)
