I have been thinking about doing an Ubuntu 1 month challenge where I stick with Ubuntu as my OS for one month blog about my experiences and in the end make a total decision of what OS I want to use. Has anyone else done something similar to this and what do you guys think of this? I am fairly new to Ubuntu but I know enough to get by but I think this would be a great learning experience.

I use Ubuntu full time but I do own all three of the popular OS's out there (Mac, Windows, Linux). It won't be hard, Ubuntu I find is better than both and is similar in many ways.

This has been done a couple of times.
I hope you have a good experience with Ubuntu.
When I did this, I never went back to Windows.
We decided to stay with Linux and uninstalled all of the Windows in the house and installed Linux in every PC we had.
Never looked back.

There was an online 'zine article last spring about doing a 30 day trial with the major OS's. So I decided to try back in june. Still here with a windows partiton that I rarely use and am always disapointed when I do.

Depends on your outlook when you get started. I have seen some blogged reviews where people set off to prove to themselves Ubuntu is not as good as Windows XP. Guess what, they manage to prove themselves correct. Surprise. If you instead go in with an open, curious mindset, then you may just discover a better operating system.

Someone pretended to do such a challenge (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=589243) but then never told us what happened.

So I went ahead and tried it, I installed it at midnight last night and it installed fine but the update manager killed it with a cepsus update I believe it was called. Then I thought it was a fluke and reinstalled and tried updating again and yet again the update killed it. I never had this problem before and I am quite confused. I posted for help so I'll see how it goes, right now I am on the liveCD. This may be a long month.

You know, I think you may be right. I have all three as well. I used to use my Mac Tiger a lot before I installed Ubuntu. I hardly ever boot into windows and as for Mac, well, as much as I like it, I think I prefer Ubuntu. I certainly use it a lot more.

Everything is going well, I fixed some minor bugs with my hardware with the help of these amazing forums. I am enjoying my experience so far.
