I have an old p3 700 mhz that I have gutsy on. I wanna put an emulator on it for old NES games on. I have a ton of roms i just don't have a Linux emulator. I don't know how to compile. I can add stuff with synaptic or add/remove . and open repositories If i have instructions. Any one know of a simple to use NES emulator that i can configure to play witha keyboard.?

First off, put Xubuntu on it. Similar to Ubuntu, but for older machines like yours.
See if these work:

I'd reccomend using fceu and install gfceu front end to config all the settings. fceu hasn't been udpated for a while but works great, give it a try.
take care

I just wanted to say that I've recently been reading what has been written in this thread and I want to say that I'm very content with what the gfceu emulator has offered me when it comes to performance and useability. This definitely made my day a bit more optimistic! Thanks! :)
Before this emulator I tried one emulator which was found by default in the Etch system and it was very dissipointing when it came to performance and so on...
