I actually skipped 1.0.7 and went straight to 1.5 beta. It is much better in terms of performance and gives me opera like speeds. You guys might want to give that a shot when you can. Bear in mind though, it is still in beta but I haven't come across any problems/instability issues...

Firefox 1.07 is not in any of my repositories. I expected it under security.
Just after I typed the above, it appeared under the red update button in the taskbar :)

I think the security flaws mentioned in the original post are in 1.5. I know that they were in the beta release and that the work around for it didn't actually work for 1.5. They might be fixed in the 1.5 based nightly builds but you may need to check.
