Call of duty 4 wont start

i got it installed and i got directx installed and got the right dll's and switched them to native but now when i click on COD to launch it wine comes up. steam starts loging in but no cod. if i exit steam wine just closes all together. i dont get any error messges or anything at all anyone know whats going on? do i need that nvidia workaround patch?

for the love of god and all that is holy i need to get this working i really want to play some video games since i havent been able to since the switch to linux im happy with linux but i needs ma games

Try disabling Desktop effects and then run it again through wine.

did that and i click the exe and wine just boots u p but nothing happens at all
