I've seen people with a a design in their background. you know, the white area behind the icons in the picture below?

I don't think I am explaning it well but, if you understand what I mean and know how to do it please give me a link of something...there is karma in it for you :)

If you are using Nautilus, then click on: Edit-->--Background and Emblems

... Then either drag and drop a background into your Nautilus, or add your own image with the add button.
