Greetings, I'm a total neophyte with Linux but the recent purchase of a 1080p TV is my motivation to replace my Tivo's with a (hopefully inexpensive) Myth box.
AMD 32bit processor on a M7NCG400 motherboard with a very old --- monitor.
I downloaded Mythbuntu 7.10 & tried to load it.
Problem: the 1st stage of the CD load goes ok, & I can see the 1st Myth screen with the various options across the bottom of the screen. However, when I allow the installation disk to proceed to the next step, the monitor eventually says 'frequency out of range' & goes dark.
I tried various screen settings using option 4 from the 1st screen, but nothing helps. I did try the load process using a newer Dell monitor, & did get the next screen with 2 icons allowing either full install or frontend from CD. The icons were very small, leading me to believe that Myth is starting at a very high screen resolution even though I'm asking for a low-res display at the 1st screen.
Is there any way to get Myth to stay in low res so I can do the full install?
I'd love to abandon Windoze, but if I will remain a 'user', would I be better off leaving Linux alone?
Thanks,
