Installing and managing fonts in Ubuntu

Greetings!

I would like to know the following:

1) Are TrueType fonts supported in Linux (Ubuntu)?

2) Are Adobe PostScript fonts supported in Linux?

I am migrating from Windows (Adobe Illustrator), and opening my old .AI files will bring in fonts issues. What are my expectations?

gnome-specimen

it shows what fonts are installed
